~*~Christmas Remembrance~*~


Christmas has come again
And time to remember those we love
And happy times at Christmas we have spent
Making memories and what they meant.

School pageants and the manger scene
With costumes to assemble for each one:
Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds and wisemen from a far.
Hanging high above the manger a shining star
And angels with gosomer wings to sing
Heralding the birth of the Savior, God's own son.



We sang familiar carols we loved to hear:
The First Noel, Oh Christmas Tree and Joy To The World.
Our voices would blend together and swell
With Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells
Then mellow soft with Away In the Manger and Silent Night.
We lifted our voices to spread Christmas cheer.

We knew Santa was making a list and checking it twice
To see if we were naughty or nice.
We read Twas The Night Before Christmas and could hear
Hoofs of the reindeer for Santa was Up On the Rooftop.
We dreamed of wonderful toys we had said
Were our wish as we snuggled in our bed.



The Christmas tree was a sweet smelling cedar
Decorated with popcorn, holly berries and angel hair
With bright balls and tinsel hanging there
And plenty space for gifts underneath.
The beautiful tree had a special place
In a corner near the fireplace.

Santa came on Christmas Eve
And we went early to bed
Snuggling in tight and soon fast asleep
Never daring to open our eyes and peek.
Arising early Christmas morn we squealed with delight
Seeing what Santa had brought that snowy night.



Opening gifts was lots of fun
Then eating the candy, fruit and nuts was begun.
Later a special dinner graced the table
With favorite dishes lovingly made
And prayers of thanksgiving raised
To God for Jesus' birth on this special day
In Bethlehem long ago and far away.

Christmas is a time of remembrance
Of what it was long ago
And the memories we hold
Repeated year after year with our children
And even when we are old
With grandchildren to hold
As we lovingly wish everyone...
