Mommy and Baby
In the White lace cradle
My newborn baby lies,
So overcome with gratitude for you
Tears Begin to fill my eyes.
So many things I want to say
How can I make you see,
How much you are loved and wanted
By your father and me.

You are so innocent and fragile
Such a tiny wee little you;
If I told you about love now
You wouldn't have a clue.
As my heart begins overflowing
Happily I begin to sing
About the love I have for you.
Daddy, dollies, balloons and things.

Today you are in the cradle
Tomorrow you will stretch your wings,
Instead of being rocked and cuddled,
You'll turn to butterflies and swings.
Schools, books and friends
Will broaden your view,
Changes will take place
As you find a greater you.

Each day will be different
A Challenge it will bring,
Tears laughter and hope
For bigger and better things.
In time perhaps
A mother you will become,
Feelings of inadequacy,
Yes dear you'll have some.

The joy I have in my heart today
Someday you too will feel,
When you hold that precious baby
And say, "Is it really real?"
Don't be too anxious to grow up
Live each day with a fling,
Watch life unfold before you
And the happiness it will bring.
