Though the weather outside is cold and dreary
My heart is happy and full of cheer.
There is a secret to the melody in my heart.
God put a song there at the very start.
Troubles may come and troubles may go
But nothing can make me lose my song.
I have love and forgiveness full and free
Which keeps me singing all the day long.
I call upon my Lord and ask Him to stay near
When troubles and doubts appear.
Then, I place all my cares at His feet
And He lifts them up
and gives me sweet peace.
I hear the song of the little bird
Who comes to visit the tree outside my window.
I listen as the song wafts on the air
And echoes in my heart
after flight has taken him from there.
When I hear the laughter of a child at play
Again my heart sings a melody of love
Offered to God above.
Contentment finds and abode in my heart to stay.
I read a poem and find solace in the words
Carefully penned to lift my soul to new heights.
I let them sink into my heart
And insight fills me with sweet delights.
Lord, keep me close and ever near
So with each beat of my heart
I will lift my voice loud and clear
To praise your name so precious and dear.
