~Quite Near~
What do I say to a father
Who’s lost a loving son
What words of comfort can I give him
To explain why this life is done.

What do I say to the mother
Who’s lost the shining light
That she rocked and nurtured
Through many a lonely night.

What words of peace can I utter
To ease the pain in your heart
To help you meet this tragedy
That’s torn your world apart.

I’m reminded of another Father
Who lost his precious Son
Who turned a terrible moment
Into a battle won.

The sacrifice of this special Son
Can bring comfort to your pain
Because it made if possible
To see your son again.

He walks now with the Father
Down heaven’s golden way
Lock this picture in your heart
It’ll help you through each day

For he’s not really lost to you
He’s actually quite near
In all the treasured memories
That you hold so dear.

So in those moments of sorrow
Remember his smiling face
Think of him sitting at heaven’s throne
Held in our Lord’s embrace.
