~Searching For Gold~
Feeding the goldfish in a pool
Watching them surface for the food
I am reminded as I see their color of gold
The many times we search for gold.

We look for a golden sun each morn
Hoping that golden rays of light
Will take the chill off the air
Making us warm and our day bright.

We search for golden friendships, too
That fill our hearts with love
Making us know our true worth
Is not in what we can buy
But relationships most precious on earth.

We search for wealth and fame
Thinking they are precious as gold
But soon realize it will perish away
And not what we should strive for each day.

We seek golden promises that make
Golden opportunities come our way
To reach out to our fellow man
Making life better for them, if we can.

But the gold for which I seek
Is that of a lost soul
Which is more precious than gold.
"I search for the lost coin until I find it"
My Savior said "and restore it to my fold."

Gold I seek from day to day
But it is not the kind that turns to dust
But is the golden streets of heaven I pray
Is my final destination if in God I trust.
