A Visit From An Elf

I saw an Elf outside my window
On this grey, frigid, snowy day,
Nearby was his hammer, nails and saw
He needed a break he wanted to play.

He was wearing snow shoes and gloves
And extra clothing to keep him warm,
He just wanted some time and space
From working in his toy barn.

I gave him a smile and a wave
When I saw him looking at me,
He clapped his hands and did a dance
He was as happy as he could be.

He threw snowballs at the squirrels
And romped in the snow for a while,
He stood up, stretched, and picked up his tools
Then skipped away with the biggest smile.
